Your Health Abroad

If you or a U.S. citizen loved one become seriously ill or injured abroad, we can:

  • Assist in locating appropriate medical services.
  • Inform your family or friends, with your permission.
  • Help transfer funds to the U.S. citizen overseas.

We do not pay medical bills. Payment of hospital and other expenses is the patient’s responsibility.

You can find lists of doctors and hospitals in the country you are visiting on the U.S. embassy or consulate websites.

Before you go abroad, learn what medical services your health insurance will cover overseas. If your health insurance policy provides coverage outside the United States, remember to carry both your insurance policy identity card as proof of insurance and a claim form.

Although some health insurance companies pay “customary and reasonable” hospital costs abroad, very few pay for your medical evacuation back to the United States. Medical

ICON Health & Fitness, Inc.

We help people live their best, healthiest lives

The origins

In 1977, two college classmates sat at a kitchen table in the very house pictured above,
sketching business ideas on a napkin. The entrepreneurs started with a small import
business selling various items including wood-burning stoves and clocks. Spotting early
trends of fitness and running, ICON’s founders shifted their focus to the emerging
opportunities in these new industries.

In the 1980s, ICON introduced treadmills that folded for storage. The result was
SpaceSaver™—an ICON innovation that lets consumers “fit fitness into the home” and
ignited growth in the home fitness category.

This early example shows ICON’s synergy of design, engineering and manufacturing
knowledge.  Over the decades, many more simple but brilliant improvements followed,
allowing ICON to lead by innovation.

Today, ICON’s premier brands, including NordicTrack and ProForm, are the top ranked
equipment in each of the industry’s three largest categories—treadmills, stationary

Health Professionals Follow-Up Study

About HPFS:

The Health Professionals Follow-Up Study (HPFS) began in 1986. The purpose of the study is to evaluate a series of hypotheses about men’s health relating nutritional factors to the incidence of serious illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, and other vascular diseases. This all-male study is designed to complement the all-female Nurses’ Health Study, which examines similar hypotheses. The HPFS is sponsored by the Harvard School of Public Health and is funded by the National Cancer Institute. Learn More About HPFS.

Thank you, participants! In 2018, nearly 90% of participants responded to the bi-annual study questionnaire. Their commitment provides the consistent data required to make progress in the study of men’s health.
