Bellevue Hospital Center is a 912-bed acute-care general hospital, one of the largest single municipal hospital buildings in North America. It is the flagship hospital of New York City’s Health and Hospitals Corporation, the nation’s largest municipal health-care system. The origin of Bellevue Hospital can be traced to the colonial era and has a rich history of service to the community. Its association with NYU dates back over 100 years and the medical staff consists largely of NYU faculty and residents. Inpatient Mental Health Services comprise 330 beds offering a full range of services for acute psychiatry needs and Consultation Liaison Services. There are 14 units which provide a full range of in-patient psychiatric treatment programs including, general psychiatry and various specialty services within several academic divisions including, Substance Abuse, Geriatric, Child & Adolescent, and Forensic services. Outpatient Mental Health Services are offered for psychiatric evaluation, geriatric-psychiatry, acute and continuing substance abuse treatment, and forensic psychiatry services.
