STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Richmond University Medical Center was placed on a brief lockdown Sunday morning as police responded to reports of a man allegedly armed with a large kitchen knife, who had barricaded himself inside a trailer on the hospital’s West Brighton campus.
The incident unfolded around 10:18 a.m. inside an outdoor triage connected to the Emergency Department, which is used for overflow patients as the building undergoes renovations, said RUMC spokesman Alexander Lutz.
