The Department of Medicine
Welcome to the Department of Medicine within the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. The Mission of the Department of Medicine is to provide outstanding clinical care, to provide superlative education and to maintain our position as a “world leading” center for research and innovation. With more than 260 full-time and over 440 non-GFT faculty, the department consists of 18 Divisions spanning the breadth of Internal Medicine. We provide our services to the people of Hamilton, St. Catharines and the Kitchener Waterloo area, as well as other regional centers. We work closely with our hospital partners at the Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, the Niagara Healthcare System and other regional partner institutions to deliver excellent clinical care framed in the context of academic inquiry.
As the largest Department in the Faculty of Health Sciences, we are acutely aware of our role as an academic and clinical leader. The commitment of the department is to maintain and build excellence while maintaining a sense of fiscal responsibility and being aware of our fortuitous position as the provider of care to South Central Ontario.
Welcome to the Department of Medicine at McMaster University.
