Mudgee Hospital Redevelopment

The $70.7 million Mudgee Hospital Redevelopment is an exciting project that will provide a major upgrade to the health service’s ageing infrastructure.

Project benefits:

  • A modern upgrade to the existing health service.
  • Hospital, community health and dental clinic services all under one roof.
  • More contemporary facilities and integrated models of health care.
  • The upgraded Mudgee Health Service will continue to be a health services hub for people living in the Mid-Western Regional Local Government Area, and meet their health service needs through to 2027.

Where are we up to?

The Mudgee Hospital Redevelopment project received planning approval from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in December 2018. To view the State Significant Development Application and related documents CLICK HERE.

Early works, including demolition of a number of old buildings to make way for the new hospital, was completed on site in March 2019. The tender for Main Works was awarded to Hutchinson Builders, who commenced construction of the new facility in March 2019.

Importantly, all current hospital, community health and dental clinic services will continue throughout the redevelopment period.

Community Consultation

The hospital has worked closely with the Mid-Western Regional Council and a range of local businesses, community groups, staff and residents during the planning phases of the project. We appreciate their involvement and support and look forward to continuing to work with them during the construction phase.

The design for the new facility was developed with input from staff, clinicians, patient user groups and the broader Mudgee community.

The Schematic Design plans and images are available below. The redevelopment project team is also available to present details of the design to local groups and organisations.

The project team has also sought suggestions and ideas from local stakeholders on the kind of art they would like to see in the new hospital. An Art Working Group will be established in 2019 to progress the development of the Art Strategy.
